Chão do Ribeiro is full of memories and histories of the Mendes family. Great-grandparents Carmo and Joaquim Mendes lived there.
The first and second floors were the family’s home, while on the ground floor there was a “fine footwear” manufacturer. This workshop belonged to Mestre Mendes, who, together with other workers, produced all the footwear by hand, in an artisanal way. Special footware for Church and special occasions.
Over time, it became necessary to refurbish the house. This “memory book” could not be missed. The improvement and expansion works carried out provided the house with the appropriate amenities for today, maintaining its traditional design and setting in the region.
Casa do Chão do Ribeiro is located near the main church, next to a gentle valley where there are several cultivated fields and close to the Ribeira do Boco which runs through the village and which inspired the very name of the house. The surrounding fields are still cultivated and, depending on the time of year, provide fruit, vegetables and flowers, or serve as pasture for some of the characteristic flocks of sheep and goats.

- The house and exterior is for the sole and exclusive use of the guests

Booking Conditions
- Minimum booking period of 2 nights between October 1st and May 30th; Minimum booking period of 5 nights from June 1st to September 30th.
- Seasonal swimming pool – period of operation from 01 June to 30 September.
- To make the reservation, it is necessary to pay 50% of the total amount of the reservation, with the remainder paid at check in.
- Customers can cancel free of charge up to 42 days before arrival; you will pay 50% of the total amount if you cancel within 42 days of your arrival date; in case of no-show, the guest will have to pay the total amount of the reservation.
- Cot upon prior availability.EUR 5.00 per night is added to the booking price, which includes bed and bath linen.
- Check-in time is between 15:30 - 22:00 and check-out is until 12:00.
- All foreign guests must present the necessary data to communicate to the Immigration and Borders Service , in accordance to art. 16 of Law No. 23/2007 of 4 July, updated by Law No. 102/2017 of 28 August (https://siba.sef.pt/legislacao-e-protocolos/).

Everything we needed... we found!
The house in Chão do Ribeiro is one of a kind! We liked the way the house was refurbished, keeping the old style, but offering all the comfort. Everything we needed...we found it!
We loved the decoration and all the small details, indicators of great taste! The house was exquisitely clean.
We appreciate the pampering left by D. Susana, and her warm welcome, availability and friendliness.

An experience to repeat
The first time we stayed at the house in Chão do Ribeiro and we highly recommend it. The house is very cozy and comfortable and the hosts 5 stars. Everything was spotlessly clean and had great amenities.
The pool was also wonderful and we loved the welcome treat. An experience to be repeated for sure.
